Kawneer Cancelled – Novastruct Strikes Out

A big name in aluminium systems in the UK, Kawneer was renamed Novastruct in May. On Thursday 27 August, its UK manufacturing facilities closed. 85 jobs have gone.

Novastruct UK will strike out for new offices on Monday 14 September: Engenda House, 3200 Daresbury Park, Daresbury, Warrington WA4 4BU.

50 years of manufacturing end

The industrial facilities on Astmoor Road in Runcorn are now closed. They had been in operation for 50 years.

Landlines will remain the same but won’t be turned on again until the move into the offices are complete. The firm’s team will remain available by mobile phone, Microsoft Teams and via a website contact form. Online and off-site face-to-face meetings will also continue as required. Email addresses were changed to @novastruct in April.

New chapter

The much-reduced footprint of the new premises will fit how the company will operate for the foreseeable future – which is supplying the building and construction sector with architectural aluminium façade systems along with aluminium windows and garden doors.

Production will be outsourced to European manufacturers.

About forty staff members have retained their jobs, mostly in sales, sales support and technical roles.

85 lost jobs

Back on 24 February, 85 production employees were informed they would be losing their jobs ‘due to the continued challenges in the UK construction industry’.
